Unlocking potential in lockdown

20th August 2020

Robin may have locked himself away in lockdown, but he certainly did not lock away his paints!

In fact, during lockdown Robin embarked on an exciting new project...painting fruit and vegetables on a giant scale!

The idea seemed to spring up from nowhere and Robin was determined to create his vision, so he set to work photographing whatever fruit and vegetables he could find.

He started with a stilton cheese and strawberries.  HIs family thought that it sounded a little odd and were unsure of how it would turn out, but when the canvas came alive with the colours and textures of the cheese and the vibrant shiny red strawberries, they suddenly realised that he was creating something new and exciting that looked amazing!

Before long, Robin went on to paint a whole range of fruit and vegetables; from cauliflowers, broccoli and mushrooms, to pineapples, oranges and pears.

The large proportions allow Robin to celebrate the colours, textures and details of the fruits that we so often take for granted.

It just goes to show that sometimes the best ideas come during challenging times and Robin has definitely unlocked some hidden potential during this lockdown season.

These paintings are available for sale. They would look stunning in a dining/ kitchen area of a home or restaurant.

Painted in oil on canvas in oversized proportions to magnify the detail of textures and celebrate the vibrancy of colours. Canvas size 50 x 70cm.
